The Driveway We’ve Been Praying For

On Saturday, we had the absolute honor of joining Sonya and Jason at their home as they pulled into their driveway for the first time after their extended stay at VCU during Sonya's liver transplant and recovery journey.

It’s hard to put into words what that moment felt like.

After months of hospital stays, uncertainty, setbacks, victories, prayers, and perseverance, we stood alongside family and friends and watched Sonya come home.

This was more than a drive up the driveway. It was a moment that represented hope, resilience, healing, and the incredible gift of a second chance.

Since the beginning of Healing Words, we have been blessed to witness quite a few meaningful moments, but this has to be one of the most special. Being invited to share in such a significant milestone in Sonya and Jason’s journey is something we will never forget.

Their story has inspired us from the very beginning, and this community has shown up in incredible ways to support them through every step of the journey.

While recovery continues, this moment was worth celebrating.

Congratulations, Sonya and Jason! We are so excited to have you back home and look forward to continuing to walk alongside you as the healing journey continues.

Welcome home, Sonya.
